2007-01-31 Disruptions:

Some interesting articles and links I’ve encountered recently:

  • Slashdot article: ‘Dumb Terminals’ Can Be a Smart Move for Companies
  • Central Valley Business Times article: “Lights out in California?” California may be the first state to ban incandescent light bulbs
  • Great utility: MWSnap - ” MWSnap is a small yet powerful Windows program for snapping (capturing) images from selected parts of the screen. ” Yes I know its just a screen capture program but it is really nice, sits in the system tray, and automatically magnifies the selection region so you can capture exactly what you need from the screen. No more Shift-Print-Screen and cropping in Word.

MWSnap - cool, now windows can do what a Mac has built in. oh yeah, i forgot, it’s not the first time.

Haha, right, now let me know when Apple fixes the problem when you set the screen resolution to one that isn’t supported for your display. Every time I make this mistake on my Mac Mini I end up having to take it to a display that does support the resolution, change it back to a supported one, and hook it back up to the initial display. And yes I know there’s some crazy reset keystroke or button press that you can do at bootup, but I can never remember it. This is something that Windows has had fixed for a while now. Regardless it’s my belief that Mac, Windows, Linux, etc… all have their purposes in the grander scheme of things, and Google (and maybe the iPhone) will obsolete every one of them soon :)
